The Hunchback of Notre Dame

The Story:

In 1948 the hunchback Quasimodo, bellringer of Notre Dame was given the chance by the Archdeacon to witness the Fool’s Day festivity. At the streets, poet Gringoire was put on play by the people. And now, they saw Quasimodo, torn him a crown and paraded him on a chair while holding a rod portrays like the Pope.

Quasimodo was scolded by the archdeacon upon seeing their act. He wished for forgiveness for what happened. On the other side, people were amused by the dancing girl Esmeralda, who is along with her pet goat that could read letters and numbers by showing it in her feet. When suddenly someone scream of witchcraft and a fight arise. Esmeralda was saved by Quasimodo bringing her at the tower of church. But mistakenly, people think that he kidnapped Esmeralda. The poor hunchback was arrested in the lead of Captain Phoebus, whom Esmeralda fell in love to.

Esmeralda got pity on Quasimodo because he was beat in front of the public; she gave him water. When a tough guy tried to steal Esmeralda, the captain was there to defend her but he failed and was killed. Esmeralda was beside the dead captain when soldiers saw her and think that she kill him, they convicted her.

Quasimodo took Esmeralda to Notre Dame and assert shelter when she was about to be hanged. The hunchback was thanked by the dancing girl for his good heart. Gringoire came and told Esmeralda that soldiers are coming to condemn her again. Esmeralda runaway but Quasimodo was left and when caught by the soldiers he was killed.

Comment:

It is a terrible death of an ugly hunchback but with a golden heart and precious love for Esmeralda. It shows that you can never really know a person until you get to know him better. It’s not the looks, it’s what deep within.
